Galatasaray’s new star Rafael Leao has earned 21.89 million Euros for Sporting Lisbon, where he came through the youth academy. Leao unilaterally terminated his contract and signed for Lille following a fan attack on Sporting's facilities in 2018. Lille, with support from Milan, was forced to pay Sporting 20 million Euros in compensation, including interest, in 2023.

With the Portuguese star's transfer from Milan to Galatasaray for 38 million Euros, Sporting became entitled to receive 1.14 million Euros under training compensation. When Leao transferred from Lille to Milan for 30 million Euros in 2019, Sporting had earned 750 thousand Euros, again as training compensation.
