What is opening odds analysis?

Opening odds analysis takes the price a match carried when it first entered the coupon and uses it as a reference point, then examines how past matches that opened in the same range actually finished. The goal is not to know the outcome in advance, but to measure which outcome distribution a given opening price has historically appeared alongside.

How it works

  1. 1.You choose a market (Match Result 1, Over 2.5, Both Teams To Score and so on) and an opening-odds range; you can type the range directly or give a single odd with a ± percentage tolerance.
  2. 2.The system filters the archive down to settled matches whose opening odds fall inside that range.
  3. 3.Each match's outcome is derived from its real final score, not from a stored label — so if a score is later corrected, the statistics correct themselves.
  4. 4.Results are shown as distributions grouped by market, always together with the sample size.

Data source and coverage

The data is imported from spreadsheets containing the coupon's opening odds; the match results come from the same source. Odds are never estimated, converted or typed in by hand.

What the result means

The percentages show how often an outcome occurred in past, settled matches inside the selected band. This is a measured frequency, not a probability forecast. That is why every percentage is printed next to the number of matches it was calculated from — with a small sample, a percentage on its own means very little.

Limitations

  • ·Not every match in the archive has opening odds; a match without odds is counted in no band at all and is never treated as zero.
  • ·Opening → closing movement can only be calculated for matches where both phases are on record.
  • ·Narrowing the band shrinks the sample quickly, and a percentage drawn from a handful of matches is misleading.
  • ·Past data is not a guarantee of future results; the final judgement is always the reader's.

Frequently asked questions

What is odds analysis?

Odds analysis means looking at the real results of past matches played at the same price level, instead of interpreting a single match's odds in isolation. On this page you do that with opening odds, using an outcome distribution calculated from the final scores of settled matches in the archive.

How do you analyse betting odds?

First pick the market you want to examine, then give an opening-odds range or a single odd with a ± tolerance. The system finds settled matches that opened in that band and derives the outcome distribution from their real scores. When reading it, look at the sample size first and the percentage second.

How is a data-driven match analysis done?

A data-driven analysis follows four steps: narrow the question, filter the past matches that answer it, measure the outcome from real scores, and interpret it in light of the sample size. This page automates the odds side of those four steps; the interpretation stays with you.

How are the odds set?

In Turkey the coupon's odds are set centrally, which is why comparing prices between sites carries no information. What does carry information is how a price moves over time: the difference between the odd a match first entered the coupon with and its last price before kick-off. This platform is built around measuring that difference.

Is there a formula behind the analysis?

The results come from counting, not from a prediction formula: how many matches were played inside the selected band, and in how many of them the relevant outcome occurred. Outcomes are derived from each match's real score, which is why the same filter always returns the same number.
